Transstroy company, the general contractor of the stadium on Krestovsky Island in Saint-Petersburg, launched the implementation phase of the stadium exteriors. State-of-the-art structures and exterior materials will be installed within the next 12 months. The total area of exterior decorative elements will be more than 70 thousand sq. m, and will be the largest among the stadiums in Russia and Eastern Europe.
The general appearance of the stadium on Krestovsky Island will match the original architectural concept emphasizing its roles as a new attraction of the city. The unique project implemented by Transstroy is distinguished by a combination of historically preserved stadium elements (pavilions, main staircase, fountain) and a newly developed bowl. Finishing of the stadium will be made from modern materials in a silver-gray color range and will underline constructibility of the new sports facility. Applied finishing provides opportunities of colorful dynamic illumination of the building.
This May Transstroy completed semi-annual work cycle for selection and testing of optimal solutions for the arrangement of facades, including technical, operational and aesthetic evaluation of materials. Implemented solutions will include stained-glass windows, windows, front panels and metal plates with anti-vandal cover.
To finish the base of one of the biggest stadiums in Europe, aluminum composite panels Alubond will be applied, which were used in the construction of famous buildings such as the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai, W-hotel in Barcelona, Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh airports.
For stadium glazing products of the world leader in the industry - the Japanese company AGC will be used. AGC products can be seen on objects such as Skolkovo Business School, Moscow City tower, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo transport complexes. The company's portfolio - facade glazing of several stadiums - Tele2 Arena (Sweden), Arena Pernambuco (Brazil) and Ghalamco Arena (Belgium).
The total area of arena’s glazing will be more than 28 thousand square meters. Stained-glaze windows will be located under the roof of the stadium, at the top of the hill on which the stadium is located. Depending on the location and function of windows, vandal or energy-saving glass will be used.
For the covering of the lower part of the facade ceramic-metal panel Hardwall and FVC of genuine bulk ceramics with anti-graffiti and anti-vandal cover will be used. Material produced in Russia, previously used in the construction of a number of Olympic facilities in Sochi.
